Since 2009, CMA has partnered with a major government institution in Australia to deliver tailored training to its managers in the areas of performance feedback and difficult conversations. Our training is synchronised with our client’s performance appraisal cycle so that we can provide the managers with just-in-time support to get the most out of the performance appraisals. The program has been extended to include graduates, as part of a holistic approach to feedback conversations.
CMA’s tailored program cultivates key leadership skills within our client’s organisation by developing the managers’ ability to:
- understand and manage the different types of feedback conversations, beyond formal performance appraisals
- prepare for feedback conversations more systematically
- conduct feedback conversations with greater confidence
- build and maintain better working relationships with colleagues and direct reports, even when delivering ‘difficult’ messages
- improve staff performance and morale
Here’s what some of the participants said about our program:

I really appreciated the handouts and examples. They are fantastic tools which have helped me prepare for feedback conversations back in the workplace.”
“I would recommend CMA’s program, as I feel better equipped with skills to ensure that I realise my intentions on feedback situations.

“CMA’s program was great in helping me understand why being appreciative is so important.”
“The content was useful, focused on issues raised in discussion (not just generic issues) and provided me with great materials, not just common sense thinking. I highly recommend for staff at all levels to improve on an area that deserves more attention than it usually receives.”
“The program exceeded my expectations – it unveiled ‘grass-roots’ type issues in a simple way which will be fundamental in providing feedback.”
“It provided insight into how to structure a performance feedback meeting as well as tips for providing on-going feedback. I found the practical elements very beneficial.”
